Porcelain Veneers Can Enhance Your Smile
If you are looking to quickly enhance your smile, porcelain veneers might be the dental treatment for you. Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic shells that are permanently bonded to your teeth to conceal chips, cracks, slight alignment inconsistencies, and other minor cosmetic imperfections. Simple and effective, porcelain veneers can make your smile look consistent in color, spacing, and shape in as little as two weeks. We provide custom porcelain veneers and LUMINEERS® at our Forney office that will look completely natural, giving you that beautiful smile you have always wanted. Contact us today to learn more.
Porcelain Veneers Candidates
Porcelain veneers are an outstanding option for people who have a few teeth that are inconsistent in appearance, but lack significant problems that would require more invasive procedures like traditional orthodontics. Porcelain veneers might be a good solution if you want to improve the appearance of one or a few teeth, and are willing to have minor, permanent alterations to those teeth so the veneers can be placed. It is important to have healthy teeth and gums before proceeding with this or any other cosmetic treatment. We will evaluate your oral health before recommending veneers.
We are also proud to offer LUMINEERS®. These are a very thin type of veneer, about as thick as a contact lens. Unlike porcelain veneers, LUMINEERS® can usually be placed without removing the underlying tooth structure. We can help determine which kind of veneer will best meet your goals.
Placing Porcelain Veneers
Placing porcelain veneers first requires the use of a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort. Next, a portion of your enamel, roughly equivalent to an egg shell in thickness, will be removed from the front surface of the tooth. A mold of the tooth and its surrounding teeth will then be taken and sent to a laboratory, where technicians will craft veneers of the right shape and shade for you.
Your custom-crafted veneers will be ready in about two weeks. At this time, you will return to have your veneers placed. First, we will make a light etching on the tooth surface to ensure long-term bonding. Next, an adhesive agent will be applied, and the veneer will be placed. Lastly, a special curing light is used to finalize the bond. Finally, you can leave our office with a new smile that you are eager to share with the world.
LUMINEERS® are placed using a similar process. During your first visit, a mold is made of your teeth, which is then sent to the lab. The lab will customize your LUMINEERS®, and they are usually complete in about two weeks. During your second visit, we will apply your LUMINEERS®. This process usually requires little, if any, removal of existing tooth structure.
